A Painter’s Studio
Through my conversations with the artist, it became clear that she needed a sanctuary to focus on her work. The structure turns its shoulder to the existing home and occupies the middle of the lot, embedding itself in a garden. Upon entering, the artist steps into a kitchenette/ break area, which extends the threshold between home and work. The studio itself features wall storage and a day bed. From this space, views are framed out to the tree foliage and the garden, providing a sense of privacy while maintaining a connection to nature.
