Bird Park at Essel World is one of India’s interactive bird park with over 400 exotic birds in a walk-in aviary. The 1.5-acre site was chosen for its natural contours leading to a natural water catchment area. The site has ample of existing tropical vegetation & good soil conditions. Following the principles of inclusive design, retaining existing flora, and allowing for a healthy human-nature relationship, the design of the park has been an evolutionary process ensuring a comfortable environment, adaptability, and development of a protective niche for the exotic birds.
The journey begins with the elevated walkway over the aquatic habitat leading to the rock – deck, the rainforest walk & the pheasant’s area with bird feeding activities, and ends at the woodpecker’s stadium. Cottages with glass flooring hover into the water along the raised bridge. Bird watching is a prominent activity here. ‘Mocktail with Cockatiel’ in the cottages further leads the viewer to the woodpecker stadium that has monumental & palatial characteristic that is used for tricks & performances. Vegetation around the pond area serves as a source of food for birds.
With dense plantations, an ecosystem is created where the humans & birds coexist, interact & nurture. The bird park is one a kind project by Newarch Landscapes with effective habitat design and friendly human-bird interactions.
