Chance in Erosion

Engaging with ambiguity and juxtaposition awakens a prolonged mode of seeing and thinking, as initial confusion gives way to deeper curiosity. Translating the fluid language of water erosion into a design toolpath reveals the dualities of void and solid, soft and hard, predictability and chance. These contrasts create a dynamic tension, inviting constant opportunities for reinterpretation and uncovering new layers of meaning with each encounter.
The project manifests in a monument that explores the dynamics of strength and fragility in materials like stone and metal, using methods of addition and subtraction. By designing for erosion, new spaces of undercuts and ambiguous voids are created, introducing an element of chance.
