Gente del Po_ A Clockwork Province
The Po Delta – an anthropised landscape sitting below sea level – is shaped by an institutional imposition of power into the landscape; particularly through the Venetian Republic’s control of water and Republican ruralisation policies.
This project draws attention to the fragility of the landscape and its population, identifiable in the layers of the embankment. It finds in this landscape an opportunity to construct spaces that materially and symbolically reconfigure the common territory. Structures balance on the embankment, celebrating the threshold and merging river and land. They provide access to become a condenser, a ritualistic space, which can coagulate forms of resistance.
