Alternative spatial occasions for the urban agenda
The project constructs itself as a reflection on intimacy.
Starting from an urban discontinuity within the gridded fabric of Turin, it insists on an urban block, offering the city an intimate public space by making its courtyard accessible and open to all. A diagonal splits the system into two programs, a garden and a hammam: a tropical oasis.
The overall process is guided by urban research that starts from a morphologic analysis of the city, to then question its fabric’s inner contradictions. By focusing on this points, the three resulting projects are the result of a programmatic speculation on the neighbourhood social strata and needs, to then critically inject program within the selected points. At this moment, formal possibilities are studied to maximize programmatic intensity and new public space opportunities.
