Agrarian Picturesque
This project delves into the concept of nature, exploring its environmental and aesthetic dimensions. Agriculture is viewed as an idealized representation of nature filtered through aesthetics, serving as a medium to examine nature’s image. The project employs pixel farming, a cropping system designed to enhance ecological processes and crop production through high-resolution diversity in arable fields. By reimagining the agricultural field through geometric subdivisions, the project aims to merge geometry and nature into a diverse quilt informed by ecological principles. The project experiments with patterns and geometries to create agricultural fields. Ultimately, the focus is on designing an Urban Farm in Ojai, California, showcasing sustainable agriculture practices.

Henry Penghui Zhang is an architectural designer, interior designer, architectural visual artist, and illustrator whose work bridges architecture, art, and storytelling. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and has a background in Interior Design from Pratt Institute. Henry is currently an Architectural Designer at Elkus Manfredi Architects in Boston and previously worked at Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) in New York and Gensler in Chicago. His multidisciplinary practice combines design and visual representation to translate complex architectural ideas into compelling drawings, renderings, and illustrations.
